In the meantime, check out these Web-based resources...
- California Career Zone – cacareerzone.org/assessments – try out some of the self-assessments in the "Discover Possibilities" section. The Interest Profiler has a lot of questions, but is a good one; and the Work Importance Profiler is also a favorite among students.
- Career Coach: California Community Colleges -- ccc.emsicc.com -- take career assessments, explore careers that are a strong match, and find related education and training programs in the community colleges near you!
- My Next Move – www.mynextmove.org – an easy-to-navigate website that allows you to browse different groups of careers (highlighting those with “Bright Outlooks” for new/growing opportunities in the future!)
- Occupational Outlook Handbook – www.bls.gov/ooh - provides some of the most thorough reports about specific careers. You can browse occupations by group, search via keyword, or by highest pay, fastest growing, etc.
- Salary Surfer -- salarysurfer.cccco.edu -- select a "program of study" from the drop-down list, and then check out the different degrees and certificates available, annual salaries, and California Community Colleges offering those programs!
- California Colleges – www.californiacolleges.edu – check out some of the great resources in the "Career" section to help you learn about how you match up with certain careers.
- BigFuture by The College Board - bigfuture.collegeboard.org - do keyword searches with majors and careers; learn about the types of jobs you can do with different majors, and the types of majors that lead to certain jobs.
