High School Diploma & Equivalent

Over 39 million adults in the U.S. don’t have a high school diploma — let's change that?
Roseville Adult School (RAS) offers direct and independent-study classes to help adults earn a California High School Diploma, or to prepare for the General Educational Development (GED) Test or High School Equivalency Test (HiSET), leading to a California High School Equivalency Certificate.
High School Completion
High School Diploma
All students entering classes leading to a high school diploma must meet with a counselor for transcript evaluation and to determine appropriate classes. Students should bring a copy of their high school transcripts to the meeting if they have one. Students must have "aged out" of high school/missed their original graduation to be eligible for enrollment in the diploma program.
High school diploma students may receive credit for previous high school, adult school, or completion of the GED or HiSET tests with specific scores. Graduation requirements are completed through independent study and classroom-based coursework.
GED/HiSET Preparation
This class prepares students for the HiSET and GED tests. GED and HiSET Certificates are deemed by California law to be the equivalent of a High School Diploma for employment purposes and are recognized nationally. The official GED test is offered in English and Spanish. There is no on-site test registration at Roseville Adult School.
If you have questions about the actual GED test, go to: www.GED.com
All students must meet with a counselor to enroll. Once enrolled, students will take a PRE-test to determine their subject competency, and based on test results, the teacher will give them study materials.
After completing 12 hours of study time, students will receive a FREE GED Ready voucher to take a practice test in each subject. These practice tests will predict proficiency and determine if the student is ready to take the GED.

What's the Difference?
A high school diploma is earned by completing all required coursework, so it's better suited for those only missing a few high school credits.
A GED or HiSET is an alternative credential earned by passing a set of exams that demonstrate high-school-level knowledge without completing the standard coursework. These are better matched for individuals with minimal or no high school credits.
