Why RAS

How an Adult School is Different
High School:
Traditional high schools serve teenagers and are focused on a full 4-year academic program leading to a diploma. Adult Schools, on the other hand, serve adults (18+) who may want to finish a diploma they didn’t complete, improve their English, or learn job-ready skills at their own pace.
Community College:
Community colleges offer associate degrees and transferable credits toward a university, usually over 2+ years. Adult Schools do not grant college degrees; instead, they provide short-term, affordable, and flexible programs like high school diploma completion, GED/HiSET prep, ESL, citizenship, parenting, and career training (like medical assisting, CDL training, or office skills).
Universities & Higher Education Institutions:
Universities focus on academic degrees (bachelor’s, master’s, etc.) and often require significant time and money. Adult Schools focus on accessibility and practical training, helping students gain confidence, complete foundational education, or step into the workforce more quickly.
Why Choose Roseville Adult School
- Flexible and Affordable: Classes are designed for working adults, parents, and anyone needing a schedule that fits their life, often at a fraction of the cost of college.
- Practical and Goal-Oriented: Whether you want to finish high school, improve your English, become a U.S. citizen, or train for a job, programs are directly aligned to real-world goals.
- Supportive Learning Environment: RAS focuses on smaller class sizes, supportive teachers, and resources that meet students where they are.
- Career and Community Focus: Many programs prepare you for immediate employment in growing industries like healthcare, technology, and transportation — or help you build the foundation to continue on to community college or beyond.

Career Technical Education
Practical, certified skills are needed more every day. Our automotive program has awarded hard-working community members with an official recognition of their skills, and given others a newfound skill set. Earning a certificate differentiates you from the competition.
